Q. Do you make commerical furniture?

Absolutely. We work with interior designers, architects, shopfitters & direct customers in the hospitatilty industry.

Q. What is veneer vs solid timber?

Veneer is a thin layer of timber on a substrate like plywood or mdf. It's very stable & suitable for some pieces, such as tv units, cabinetry, drawer & door fronts. Its cheaper than solid timber & available in a variety of timbers. Solid timber is as it sounds & has an inherent qulaity to it. It's more expensive but better suited to higher use items like dining tables. It also has the ability to be refinished more easily.

Q. What is your lead time?

This varies with each job & the current workload. In most cases, 8-12 weeks can be expected.

Q. What finish is the best for my piece of furniture?

There are lots of options when it comes to finish choice. After years of experience we have settled on a few tried & true finishes that offer great protection, are easy to clean & keep your piece looking its best.

2 pack Polyurethane: A very hard wearing, maintenance free finish in 3 gloss levels - matte, satin & semi gloss or 10%, 30% & 60%. Particularly good for high impact use like dining tables & wet areas like timber vanities.

Single pack Polyurethane: A hard wearing, maintenance free finish in 3 gloss levels - matte, satin & semi gloss or 10%, 30% & 60%. Suitable for items that see little or no high impact use like tv units, desks, bedroom furniture.

Osmo Hardwax Oil: A natural blend of oils & waxes that offers good protection but requires some maintenance. The benefit is that it can be spot repaired.

Oil: We typically use oils on our outdoor pieces. They require semi regular maintenance when in exposed conditions.

Q. What are your payment terms?

We require a 50% deposit with the remainder due on delivery.

Q. Do you deliver Australia wide?

Yes. We send our furniture Australia wide.

Q. Do you deliver internationally?

Yes, though not every item is suitable to ship & it's best to discuss this up front.

Q. How much can I expect to pay?

The price of each item is influenced by a number of factors:

• Materials
• Design
• Volume
• Labour Intensity

The added benefits of custom design, high quality materials, expert craftsmanship & locally made from sustainable materials are what makes makimaki furniture a great value investment.

In most cases a quick description of your custom piece is enough to provide a ballpark estimate, before progressing to a formal quote.
